A Walk In Our Shoes Program

This Program is Designed for Senior Managers, CEO's and Business Owners.

How?…….. Our program, “A Walk in Our Shoes”, will show you how you can contribute and lead by example, a powerful tool in business; as you already know, Deloitte in 2023 found 83% of businesses using this tool, built trust and engagement with their employees and, HBR in 2022 found that this tool increased the integrity and authenticity of managers.

This mental health initiative will create an environment of two-way communication without impacting heavily on your time. Yes, we are aware of how busy you are, but it is crucial that you are seen as heading the mental health program.

In my experience, senior management is seen by most employees as “those people who run the place.” There is an invisible divide; like it or not, it has been built into our work culture over the years, and yes, we don’t want it in 2023. So, it is up to you, the new leaders, to change it.

This divide is not true regarding mental health however; you have the same stressors and feelings, and yes, you are human; it’s just that the pressure you feel in your positions differs from that of other employees.

Our program asks you to schedule a day regularly, whether it be monthly or three monthly. It is your choice.

On that day, we ask you to work alongside an employee (or group of) doing and learning their job and getting to know the employee/s through general conversation.

Why?

This experience will

  • Allow you to engage with the employee and experience firsthand what pressures and problems they experience.
  • Mostly during the open discussion, the employee gets to know you, and they find out you have problems, too.
  • Most importantly, you and the employee see each other as human, vulnerable and subject to stress.

You see, mental illness is totally non-discriminatory.

Before you embark on our program, we supply you with a tool kit containing all the material you need to prepare yourself for the experience; the pack includes authoritative statistics from well-known business sources that will demonstrate the benefits of this program, some other ways to establish a culture of mental wellness in your business and most importantly a short TEDx video by Tom Dutta (2020) a CEO who from personal experience is helping to lift the stigma of mental health and spreading the word “it’s OK to say you’re NOT OK” this video is must-see for all senior managers and CEOs.
